Automatik is a Los Angeles based film and television production company led by Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger. Berger and Kavanaugh-Jones have produced over 70 films including Damien Chazelle’s LA LA LAND, Alma Ha’rel’s HONEY BOY, Cory Finley’s BAD EDUCATION, Karyn Kusama’s DESTROYER, Jeff Nichols’ films TAKE SHELTER, MIDNIGHT SPECIAL, LOVING, as well as the INSIDIOUS and SINISTER franchises. Berger received an Academy Award® nomination and won Golden Globe, BAFTA, PGA, BFCA, and NY Film Critics Circle awards for LA LA LAND. Berger and Kavanaugh-Jones won an Emmy for BAD EDUCATION, which secured a record-breaking deal from HBO Films. Continuing to focus on music driven fare, Automatik is set to produce James Mangold’s UNT. BOB DYLAN biopic (Timothée Chalamet) for Fox Searchlight, Jonathan Entwistle’s FRED & GINGER (Jamie Bell, Margaret Qualley) for Amazon, Brett Haley’s 36 QUESTIONS for Netflix. Berger and Kavanaugh-Jones partnered under their Automatik banner in 2016, along with literary and talent management company Grandview, run by Jeff Silver and Matt Rosen.
